Who We Are

Special Mobility Services (SMS) is a non-profit organization serving communities in Washington and Oregon. For over forty years, we've worked to provide mobility to people with special transportation needs, but our services are not limited to that. We also work with community transportation partners, including volunteers, to provide rides for Medicaid clients going to health care appointments. And we operate shuttles that connect rural communities to urban centers.

To us, mobility means access to your community. Whether going to a job, seeing the doctor, going shopping, or visiting friends, mobility means independence, access to essential services, and connection with your community.

We believe that access to mobility should be open to all members of the communities we serve. We pledge to operate services that are free of all forms of discrimination, and our Equity and Access Statement documents that commitment.  For more information about our commitment to equality, please see our Title VI Plan

What We Do

We provide transportation and partner with those who provide it including volunteers and we teach people how to use public transportation independently.
