Here at West Central Community Center, we proudly serve an amazing group of individuals within the intellectually and developmentally disabled (IDD) community through our Life Skills Program.
We are seeking someone to lead engaging, respectful lessons on personal hygiene and healthy daily routines. Topics may include handwashing, oral hygiene, bathing, hair care, skincare, grooming, dressing appropriately for the weather, and the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene for overall health and well being.
Volunteers will:
- Lead interactive self-care and hygiene workshops.
- Teach healthy daily routines in a positive, age-appropriate manner.
- Demonstrate practical hygiene and grooming techniques when appropriate.
- Encourage participants to build confidence and independence in caring for themselves.
Volunteers must complete and pass a background check.
We are looking for someone who is interested in volunteering recurringly to build a relationship with our clients and help instill confidence through repetition and practice of their skills. The program operates from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to participate at any time during operating hours, and activities or workshops can be scheduled for any length of time (e.g., one hour).
