Who We Are
We specialize in retraining and rehoming homeless wiener dogs. Half of our adoptable dogs come from shelters and the other half from owners who can longer keep them.
At Dachshund Rescue NW we are always educating the public about the importance of placing the right dogs in the right homes, breed education about wiener dogs as well as being owned by a dog is a lifetime commitment for that dog. We encourage spaying and neutering of pets because too many homeless dogs end up in animal shelters and at dog rescues like ours.
Please do not buy a puppy if you are not going to take three years to train them and let them live you you for 15+ years in our long lived breed.
What We Do
Dachshund Rescue NW was started in April 1991 and we have now placed almost 1800 homeless wiener dogs. We have a large group of dog volunteers that come to the farm to socialize or dog hug so we make sure the rescues like people before we place them in their new homes. We also do test drives and take them back as needed if not working out.
We also have volunteers that attend events when we have adoption booths to educate the public about homeless dogs and rescuers are an alternative to animal shelters. We specialize in dogs the shelters can not take and that need mroe training before placement. Many of the dogs we take in would just have to be put down before they could be placed as they would get aggressive or too fearful to show themselves well. All our events are on our Facebook and Twitter pages along with daily updates on the current rescues plus event photos, etc.
