Partners for Pets

Who We Are

Our mission is to save vulnerable cats and kittens in our community, with a focus on intake from overburdened shelters. After cats/kittens have received comprehensive healthcare including sterilization, vaccination, deworming, and microchipping, we find them forever homes. Partners for Pets has been saving animals in Spokane since 1996.

What We Do

We are a cat-only rescue and shelter operating in our 30th year in the community and are entirely volunteer-run. We primarily operate a foster-adoption program focusing on adoptable animals that may just need time or simple medical care. We have adopted out over 13,000 animals that will never contribute to overpopulation and who have a lifetime safety net with our program. Any cat in our program is welcomed back at any time, for any reason. Our adoption center is open to the public six days a week and we also adopt animals from PetSmart in Spokane Valley. Both locations require numerous volunteers each day doing everything from direct animal care, customer service, adoption assistance, transportation to and from veterinary visits, offsite event set-up and staffing, social media, and office work. Staffing our adoption center in Millwood is a favorite among our volunteers. We have numerous free-roaming cats, and most others are let out of their cages while we are on site to run, play, climb or cuddle. The adoption center requires a lot of work to maintain but part of every shift is focused on enrichment and socialization. Experience with cats is a plus, but not necessary. We will teach you everything you need to know, and motivated and interested volunteers have the opportunity to gain numerous skills in cat husbandry , sheltering, and feline behavior.
