Who We Are

Dynamic Salish Language Revitalization powering cultural renewal and building a stronger, healthier community.

What We Do

Salish School of Spokane (SSOS) provides Salish immersion childcare, Early ECEAP and ECEAP preschool to low-income Native American families. We are the only ECEAP site in Washington in which a Native American language is the language of instruction. We are also one of two pilot-project sites for Early ECEAP in Spokane County. SSOS also provides Salish immersion K-8 schooling and bilingual high school for students aged 5 to 18 years of age. Our grass-roots community is taking charge of educational outcomes for our children, making sure they never have to choose between strong academic achievement and a resilient Native American identity. SSOS also provides adult education and family support services for parents and community members. We offer families housing, healthcare, legal, mental health and cultural support to help heal the effects of genocide and discrimination and to rebuild the traditional intergenerational and community connections that have sustained Native people for eons.
