Our Sister's Closet calls on volunteers to 'Support Our Sisters' Soap & Sock Drive
Our Sister's Closet is a free, donation-based clothing boutique serving women in transition, whether they are going to work, school, court or looking for employment. On average, women receive between 3 to 5 outfits, plus shoes, makeup, accessories, and personal hygiene products as available.
During the month of April - Spokane Gives Month - The YWCA Women's Opportunity Center encourages volunteers to go out into their communities and inspire others to donate and deliver essential items that are in short supply at Our Sister's Closet clothing bank (See our Wishlist, below).
Getting started is easy!
- Sign-up! Register yourself or your group on the VolunteerSpokane .org event page. Link
- Organize! Setup a collection area at your work site, place of worship, community center or other gathering place.
- Donate! Spread the word and inspire others to contribute. Feel free to make it competitive, or have a business do a 'matching gift.'
- Deliver! Drop off your donations at the YWCA front desk by April 30th, 2016.
WISHLIST - High priority items are listed first
- New socks - Used socks and underwear are not accepted.
- Deodorant
- Conditioner, shampoo & body wash - especially in regular, non-travel sizes
- Tampons, individually wrapped
- Toothbrushes & toothpaste
- Other essentials: toilet paper, cotton swabs, makeup, lotion, hair products/tools, etc.
