A Dog and/or Cat Socializer comes to SCRAPS and pets, loves and interacts with SCRAPS critters, in order to provide a positive quality of life while they are in between families.

The Information Booth Volunteer greets the community as they come to SCRAPS and answers questions about the organization and the adoption policies and process.  He/she also has on hand extensive resources to answer animal information questions and direct the public to resources regarding animal welfare.

The Kennel Assistant Volunteer arrives with the morning staff and assists with feeding the animals, cleaning out the kennels, and other duties assisting the Kennel Technicians prepare the kennel for the day.  Immediate direction and supervision is given at each shift.

An outreach volunteer is in place for community events that SCRAPS attends. He/she should stand at the SCRAPS booth and represent SCRAPS positive and professional manner.  An outreach volunteer should be able to engage the public in conversation and tell them about SCRAPS and the services we provide.  Most of the time, at outreach, there is an adoptable dog and/or cat.  An outreach volunteer will be the person responsible for the animal and for the adoption process when appropriate.

Sick, injured, pregnant, nursing, or stressed animals do not stay at SCRAPS. During the kitten season, we have an abundance of kittens that are not old enough to be sterilized.  They all need to have the chance to go to a foster family until they are ready to find their forever home. Foster volunteers are special people! They make sure animals have the time and love they need along with a warm home and a full bowl. Can you be a foster volunteer?
