Our Life Skills Program is searching for a volunteer to lead engaging cooking demonstrations or simple meal preparation classes while teaching basic nutrition and healthy eating habits. Lessons should focus on practical, easy to follow recipes and everyday kitchen skills in a supportive, encouraging environment. 

Volunteers will:

Lead interactive cooking or baking activities.Teach basic kitchen safety and food handling.Share simple nutrition tips and healthy eating habits.Encourage participants to build confidence and independence in the kitchen.

Volunteers must complete and pass a background check.

We are seeking someone who is interested in volunteering recurringly to build a relationship with our clients and help instill confidence through repetition and practice of their skills. The program operates from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to participate at any time during operating hours, and activities or workshops can be scheduled for any length of time (e.g., one hour).

Activities may include chair yoga, stretching, walking groups, mindfulness, breathing exercises, low-impact fitness, stress management, or other wellness focused experiences that promote confidence and overall health. This role must feel comfortable working with intellectually and developmentally disabled adults.
