The Habitat Store serves our work of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. The Habitat Store is a donation-based home improvement and goods store. One hundred percent of proceeds from donations of new and gently used items help fund our mission. The store depends on enthusiastic volunteers for everything from bringing in donated items to helping us sort donations in our warehouse to arranging merchandise. Whether volunteers prefer interacting with the public or working behind the scenes, we have a space for everyone! Volunteer hours are flexible! Volunteer: Build Affordable Houses for Families in the Community with Habitat for Humanity-SpokaneHabitat for Humanity-Spokane is welcoming volunteers to our build site in Spokane Valley, and with the City of Spokane. As a volunteer, you and others will spend the day using sustainable and responsible practices to build homes that last. The home building process can include framing, drywall, insulation, siding, floor installation, painting, and more. No prior experience is necessary, and people of all abilities are encouraged to participate. All volunteers work under the instruction of the Habitat site construction supervisor. This is a construction project building incredibly energy-efficient homes for families in need of a safe and affordable place to call home. All houses Habitat for Humanity-Spokane builds are sold to qualified low to medium -income families through the Habitat Homeownership Program. Important Information: SHIFT - starts at 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. SAFETY ORIENTATION - starts at 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. please be on time – Important safety information will be discussed. LOCATIONS - Spokane Valley, and the city of Spokane WHAT to WEAR - Please dress in comfortable clothes that you can work in and wear closed toes shoes. WHAT to BRING - Bring a refillable water bottle and pack a lunch if you plan on volunteering for a full day. SAFETY GEAR - Habitat for Humanity will provide all tools, safety glasses, and hard hats. You are welcome to bring your own hand tools, masks, gloves, and safety gear, but Habitat asks that no power tools are brought to the construction site. AGE LIMIT - All volunteers must be 16 years of age and older, and if under 18, you must have parental consent. WEATHER - We build rain or shine but, if the city or county of Spokane is experiencing severe weather and schools are closed due to a snowstorm or bad air quality, our job sites will close.
