This volunteer role may include the following tasks: Front Desk: Assist with counting and bagging items upon checkout Sorting: Separate out anything that has any of the following traits : stains, broken zippers, several missing buttons, rips, broken hoods or pockets Make sure everything left is something in good enough condition that you would gladly gift it to a friend or family member. If it is out of season, put it in the labeled bin that correlates to that item. Hanging: Take clothing rack from the sorting room and hang items according to posted signage. Receive donations as they come in during service hours. Perform any other extra tasks the clothing bank manager needs. You may be placed in other departments help out as needed. At your designated “station” you will help distribute food items based on the guidelines for an average household of 4/5 people unless otherwise specified. Restock the shopping line from the back-up supplies set up for you. Addressing any dietary restrictions or special requests via assistance from the runner on shift or the Assistant Food Bank Manager. Please try to arrive about 15 minutes early for your first shift to fill out a volunteer application and waiver along with getting a brief orientation. On Tuesday, December 16th we need a variety of volunteers to help with this event. 9:30-12:30 the following duties: Directing traffic and providing event information Intake- gathering demographic and resident information for West Central residents and then for the general public. Elves to help escort families and individuals through our Annual Holiday Gift Giveaway event. Floor and table monitors keeping displays organized and full. 2:00-4:00 Break down and clean up. This event will be held at Salem Lutheran Church. Please try to arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to receive instructions and let us know how long you can stay. Much of this will require standing, lifting, carrying and smiling.
