Opportunities From: Volunteer Spokane

The Spokane Helpers Network is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization in Spokane, WA. Our mission is to provide essential items to households that cannot afford necessities and/or cannot take advantage of the organizations and agencies in Spokane that meet basic needs.

As an all-volunteer organization, we rely on community members to help meet the needs of low-income household in Spokane, Spokane Valley, and Airway Heights. Currently, there are 170 volunteers in the network, of which approximately 60% are very active.

We are seeking several volunteers to help with:

Recruiting volunteers for a variety of roles, virtually and through in-person events Overseeing background checks

Requires phone, email, and/or text communication. Access to Internet needed.

Can volunteer at own convenience. 

No financial donation is expected.

Background check required.

 

Spokane Helpers Network maintains a food depot and assembles non-perishable Meal Kits to deliver to low-income, hungry people in greater Spokane.  

We are seeking generous Spokanites to help us keep our food depot stocked.

No one is asked to commit to donating a certain amount of food on a prescribed schedule. Instead, you would donate needed food when you are notified of a need (as your finances allow). 

Items are dropped off at our south side food depot near 57th Avenue. Mon-Fri between 9 and 4 pm.

All donations are tax deductible and a receipt is provided.

Spokane Helpers Network maintains assembles Hygiene Kits to deliver to low-income people in greater Spokane. Hygiene Kits are available for men, women, and children.

We are seeking generous Spokanites to help us keep our supply depot stocked with toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, razors, shaving cream.

No one is asked to commit to donating a certain amount of food on a prescribed schedule. Instead, you would donate needed food when you are notified of a need (as your finances allow). 

Items are dropped off at our south side food depot near 57th Avenue. Mon-Fri between 9 and 4 pm.

All donations are tax deductible and a receipt is provided.

Spokane Helpers Network strives to provide food and basic essentials to low-income families in the greater Spokane area. Many of our recipients are disabled/elderly and homebound - so they are not able to go to food banks on their own. Others do not have reliable transportation. For that reason, we are seeking a volunteer who can pick up food supplies in File Mile and deliver them to north side households on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month ( bi-weekly).

Volunteers who pick up food must have their own cars and must be willing to donate gas.

In addition, drivers must have car insurance and must submit to a background check.
