Clean Start Community Services is seeking a dedicated volunteer Board Member with experience or interest in fundraising, grant writing, or donor development to support our early-stage nonprofit growth.

This board role will help strengthen Clean Start’s financial sustainability by supporting fundraising strategy, grant research, donor outreach, and community partnerships. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping build long-term systems that support hygiene access, dignity, and stability for families and veterans in Spokane County.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support fundraising strategy and donor outreach efforts

A drive-through food distribution that brings fresh groceries straight to neighborhoods in need. Volunteers help unload the truck, pack food into boxes or bags, and load them directly into waiting vehicles. Providing up to 250 families with food. It's a high-energy, outdoor event where every interaction helps spread hope and nourishment. Come be a part of this powerful hands-on way to fight hunger in our community!

Develop partnerships with other organizations such as Cheney Parks & Rec, EWU, and Cheney Public Schools to create, or bring to Cheney, history programs and events.  

We are looking to re-start collaborations with institutions in the community to connect history with activities for young people especially. From classroom visits with items from the museum to engage students in learning local history, to activities students could do in school as part of their curriculum, we can help young people engage with history and place.

There are also opportunities to bring exhibits, speakers, etc. to the community for a broader view of our history.  

The program coordinator will build the partnerships to make these activities possible. Much of this activity can be done on your own schedule without having to come to the museum.

KYRS Thin Air Community Radio is seeking a volunteer Grant Writer to help bring critical funding to the station through local, regional, and national grants from foundations, government agencies, and other funding partners.
Since 2003, KYRS has served Eastern Washington by amplifying diverse voices, supporting local culture, and fostering community engagement through independent, nonprofit radio. Grants are a vital part of how we sustain this work, and this role plays a direct part in keeping community radio strong.

Volunteers at Hope Market provide a welcoming and helpful environment for shoppers.  They keep the shelves stocked with a variety of food.  Volunteers also help shoppers make selections from what is available in the cooler, freezer, and from the shelves of canned and dry goods in the food pantry.

Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Are you yearning to get back into the old fashioned industrial arts shop?  We are your answer. Assist at the shop during open hours.  Greet members and perspective members.  Offer tours of the space and introduce the various power tools to new comers. Work on your own projects while you volunteer.

Inland Empire Legal Aid is seeking a Community Needs Liaisons to help us better understand the legal needs of the communities we serve. This volunteer will engage directly with community members and partner organizations to gather meaningful data on barriers to legal services, unmet legal needs, and opportunities for expanded outreach. The information collected will directly inform program development, clinic placement, and service delivery across IELA’s legal programs.

IELA regularly accepts student interns to fulfill their internship or volunteer hours. We accept students from SCC, Gonzaga and more. Student Interns/Volunteers can expect to shadow legal professionals at legal clinics, conduct office duties and attend outreach/community events. As a Locker Porter, you aren’t just handing out bags—you’re delivering fresh groceries and gourmet, chef-prepared dinners with a side of dignity and a smile. Our new 16-unit locker system is the first of its kind in Spokane, and we are assembling a team of Locker Porters to cover (3) 3-hour shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (8:30-11:30 AM, 11:30 AM-2:30 PM, 2:30-5:30 PM).

Your work will help ensure the smooth operation of our organization as we expand access to grief support for children and families in our community.

Lion’s Heart Children’s Grief Center is seeking creative and detail-oriented volunteers to support a meaningful activity at our Family Grief Day Camp. During camp, families participate in an art project where they create a poster representing their family using animal images to symbolize each family member.

Volunteers in this role will help prepare materials by collecting magazines and carefully cutting out photographs of animals for families to use during the activity. We are looking for individuals who can gather a variety of realistic animal images (no cartoons or clip art), organize them, and either mail them to us or arrange a time to deliver them.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on projects and wants to contribute in a simple but meaningful way. Your support helps create a thoughtful experience that encourages connection, expression, and healing for grieving families.

Garden volunteer jobs such as weeding, bagging and taking green waste to the curb, spreading straw and mulch, repairing raised beds, pruning plants or harvesting, laying down weed barrier and chips. Help us in the garden  season! 

Tasks of this opportunity is to ensure the organization has the financial resources to fulfill its mission by Runing campaigns and events, capital campaigns, galas, peer‑to‑peer drives, digital fundraising, and donor appreciation events. This person will possess a keen understanding of nonprofit finance. This position reports to the Chief Philanthropic Officer.

Person needed to be part of a team to unload incoming donations. EVERY Monday 8:30-10:30. Volunteer will be lifting up to 50 lbs at times, stage food in designated locations. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, use of a step stool and cart. 

Caritas FB is set up like a grocery store where the client can self select their items while keeping their dignity in tact. Volunteer will set up staging areas prior to distribution. The volunteer will walk the client thru to assist in selections and item limits. You will use a cart, pencil, and log sheet. Once client has finished, the items will be weighed and documented. There will be set up for the next days distribution and light cleaning at the end of the shift. Volunteer will need to be able to stand, walk slowly, bend, some light lifting. We ask for a minimum of twice a month at 3 hours per shift. Shift hours 9-12:30, 10:20-1:45

Description:  Help Spokane Valley Community Advocates (SVCA) prepare for our September reopening by organizing resources that help neighbors understand options, ask questions, and connect with community support. Resource Navigation volunteers help strengthen the tools used to guide neighbors from hardship toward stability. Volunteers will also be trained in the intake process (by phone) if they stay on after Sept 1, 2026.
