We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to support our upcoming golf tournament. Volunteers play a key role in creating a smooth, welcoming, and fun experience for participants while supporting our mission. Volunteer Roles May Include:

First Wednesdays of September through June at 10 a.m., volunteers meet at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 24th and Grand, to deliver bulk orders of The Fig Tree and to send mailings. Volunteers work about 2 hours on their own and /or spend about 2 hours delivering papers to assigned routes in areas of Spokane.  Mailing volunteers work at St. Mark's or may take mailings home.

Assist with the Events Planning Committee work?meetings, phone calls, volunteer recruitment?for The Fig Tree Benefit Breakfast and Benefit Luncheon in March each year and other events. Assist with planning and promotion and on the days of the events with set up and clean up.

The Fig Tree needs volunteers to assist with updating, organizing, proofreading and distributing the annual Directory of Congregations and Community Resources. Different tasks are needed throughout the year. The directory is a vital resource for connecting the faith and nonprofit communities, helping their leaders in making referrals, and connecting people with opportunities to serve.  Assist with research in March to May, editing in May and June, distribution in August and September and into fall.

The Fig Tree sponsors various educational events and opportunities for dialogue on issues of concern in the community and society. We are recruiting a team of people to help plan ecumenical dialogue events, the Eastern Washington Legislative Conference in January, interfaith dialogues and discussions, and other event opportunities that arise. In addition to meetings, there are responsibilities for arrangements, as well as for volunteer recruitment.

Each year, nearly 5 million Americans need blood transfusions. Blood helps trauma and burn patients, premature infants, heart surgery patients, organ transplant recipients and those fighting cancer, among others. Donating blood is one of the easiest ways to give back to your community. If you’ve never donated blood before, we encourage you to try! We’ll guide you through every step and answer any questions. Here’s what you can expect, eligibility requirements and things you can do ahead of time to make your experience pleasant and rewarding.

Donation Process
It takes about an hour—from the time you arrive to the time you leave—to complete a whole blood donation. The actual donation time is only about 10 minutes. Whole blood donation is most often given by new donors and is the most common type of donation. We also use special technology  to collect specific blood components—red blood cells, platelets and plasma—from donors to best match current patient needs.

Before you roll up your sleeve to help someone else, please take care of yourself:

Eat a healthy, low-fat meal within two hours ahead of your donation. The day before, eat a salty snack. When you donate blood, you lose about a gram of salt. Replacing it ahead of time helps keep your blood pressure normal.
Hydrate by drinking 8 to 16 ounces of non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic beverages one hour before you donate. Water is a great choice.
Avoid or limit caffeinated sodas, coffee, iced tea and energy drinks on the day of donation.

Inspiring others to give blood by hosting a blood drive is a rewarding way to benefit your community. It’s also an opportunity to give your organization’s members a chance to share in the wonder of transforming the lives of others. At Vitalant, we have thousands of volunteers we call blood drive coordinators, who partner with us to ensure a safe blood supply is always available for patients who need it.

Blood drives can be held at businesses, schools, places of worship, community and civic organizations—anywhere enough people are willing to roll up their sleeves to save lives. In fact, more than half of the blood we collect comes from our mobile blood drive programs.

We have just a few basic requirements for successful blood drives*:

We ask for a minimum of 30 people who are committed to participate in a blood drive. We will supply you with tools to help you measure the level of interest in your organization.
You must have either an inside location that meets certain requirements for staff and equipment or an outside location suitable for a bloodmobile.
You will be working with experienced donor recruitment representatives, who will guide you every step of the way to ensure your blood drive is a success.

Flexible position involving staffing tables and booths for NAMI Spokane at events spread throughout the year. Events include Unity in the Community, The Pride Festival, The Prevent Suicide Awareness walk, our Open your Mind event, annual meeting,  and more! Volunteers are paired with other volunteers so there is always a team of two. Shifts are an average of 2-4 hours, depending on the event. Want to bring your own twosome team of you and your friend or Adult family member? The Arc's Community Center operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers may teach crafts, elementary music, math, reading, and drama to members of the center, interact with them socially and recreationally or accompany them on day trips in the community. Our goal is to create an environment of learning social skills for our members and in turn, our members help create stronger advocates in all our volunteers. We strongly encourage that everyone should come one day into our Center, Your life will be changed for the better being with our members.

When a volunteer enters our program, they are trained with an hour orientation on what to except and to have any questions answered to help them feel more comfortable in our center. Along with the orientation into our program, volunteers will undergo a background check through DSHS. Those are completed and paid for by The Arc of Spokane.

There aren't any requirements on how many hours volunteers put in and days to come in are very flexible to individual schedules.  We invite anyone interested in coming into our centers to join our team. Whether it's just for a special event, on occasional breaks or having a regular schedule. We will work with you and find a good fit for your skills and talents.

We have volunteers who come to the Wiener Ranch and hug dogs.  This is the easiest gig ever if you like dogs.

The time is at 10 am daily with an appointment in advance so no one gets chomped.  Send an email to schedule.  We are open with appointments on weekdays as well as weekends. 

Having folks come to the farm and hug dogs helps us get them socialized before they are placed in their new homes.  Most come inside and sit and we turn loose the hounds.  If you can't stay seated when asked or are terrified of a group of wiener dogs then this is not the volunteer job for you.

We are located on a farm northwest of Spokane and out of town.  There is no bus line to this area so you will need a car and drive yourself to visit us.

I am open for visitors at 10 am daily ONLY with an appointment in advance.  We need to have large watch dogs locked up so no one is injured.  If roads are too icy or dangerous we are also closed then as well.

Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes as dog toe nails can scratch when jumping on laps.

I am not sitting by email or phone so I need to plan my days in advance when taking dogs back and forth to the vet, etc. so please email me to make an appointment in advance.

A Dog and/or Cat Socializer comes to SCRAPS and pets, loves and interacts with SCRAPS critters, in order to provide a positive quality of life while they are in between families.

The Information Booth Volunteer greets the community as they come to SCRAPS and answers questions about the organization and the adoption policies and process.  He/she also has on hand extensive resources to answer animal information questions and direct the public to resources regarding animal welfare.

The Kennel Assistant Volunteer arrives with the morning staff and assists with feeding the animals, cleaning out the kennels, and other duties assisting the Kennel Technicians prepare the kennel for the day.  Immediate direction and supervision is given at each shift.

An outreach volunteer is in place for community events that SCRAPS attends. He/she should stand at the SCRAPS booth and represent SCRAPS positive and professional manner.  An outreach volunteer should be able to engage the public in conversation and tell them about SCRAPS and the services we provide.  Most of the time, at outreach, there is an adoptable dog and/or cat.  An outreach volunteer will be the person responsible for the animal and for the adoption process when appropriate.

POSNA currently has a handful of foster homes for a few of our many pets, and we are always in need of more for cats and kittens. Foster care may involve caring for sick or injured animals, pregnant or underage kitties, or animals that have not had much exposure to humans and need a little TLC to become adoptable.

POSNA has a cat shelter located 10 miles south of Newport, WA, off Hwy 2. We are always in need of volunteers to assist with general daily cleaning, including scooping boxes, filling food and water and also spending some time with our resident kitties.

We are in need of a handy individual to repair damaged portions of the fencing that surrounds the perimeter of our shelter property in the Diamond Lake area, as well as the chicken wire fencing on our outdoor cat enclosures. General repairs on our shelter building are also needed.

A long-term volunteer commitment, you will receive broadcast training and support and become part of the vibrant community radio community in Spokane. Many of our programmers have stayed with the station since day one twelve years ago!

MUSIC
- A music program focusing on spotlighting local artists through live interviews and in-studio performances. This would include touring bands coming through the area. The focus for this program will be what is happening in the Spokane and regional music scene.

- A reggae music program bringing KYRS listeners everything from early and roots reggae up through contemporary reggae music from around the world.

- A Latin music program with a focus on global contemporary Latin music, hot salsa, merengue, son, rumba, tango, samba and bossa nova.

COMMUNITY AFFAIRS
- Latino Community, a program covering a range of topics from education, leadership, political and cultural debates and interviews, information on current events and opportunities in education.

- Community Health, a program with far reaching health topics, from childbirth to end of life care, current health concerns, preventative medicine. Revolving topics with a consistent host interviewing guest experts, community health and medical professionals.

This unique volunteer experience provides valuable tools for navigating crisis and conflict by empowering and supporting survivors in the aftermath of abuse and trauma. Our volunteers often refer to their service with us as life changing. We are a small team of individuals from diverse backgrounds who embrace our mission of health, justice, and hope.

The Sexual Assault and Family Trauma Center, a program of Lutheran Community Services Northwest, hosts Spokane's only Certified and Accredited Community Sexual Assault Program (CSAP). Our program provides the following services confidentially and free of charge:

Our volunteer advocates assist survivors via a 24-hour support line that can be directed to volunteers at home (no need to sit in a call center) and medical advocacy, which is provided to victims in person at area hospitals when requested.

As a non-profit, we rely on our volunteers to provide services to survivors outside of business hours. We provide a comprehensive 40-hour training and certification free of charge, as well as ongoing supervision and 24-hour support for all our volunteers. We invest in our volunteer staff and in turn, we ask for a one-year commitment of service and four evening or weekend shifts per month. Applicants are thoroughly screened and vetted for service.

Core training is a 40-hour total class teaching a foundational understanding of sexual violence and basic skills for new sexual assault service providers. Core training is a certification that is required by the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy to work as a victims' advocate in Washington state.

We need a gate installed that is about 6' wide and built to match and a new ramp for crippled or injured dogs updated.  We are looking for someone with carpentry experience who has an morning or two to donate to our dog rescue.   We like working mornings before it gets too hot outside.

We also need to build a dog house for a latest guard dog to keep away coyotes at the farm.

We are located northwest of Spokane near Seven Mile and not on the bus line.

We supply the supplies and have the wood all purchased and just need a bit of expert help when we can supply the labor needed too.

We educate the public on responsible pet ownership as well as attend area pet events when we place around 150 dogs a year.  In covid 202 we still placed 96 homeless dogs and a few horses.

Dachshund Rescue NW rescues wiener dogs and we have now placed over 2500 dogs since 1991.

Our Support Groups provide an invaluable network that caregivers for people with Dementia and Alzheimer's can turn to for advice and encouragement. We recognize that caregiving is impossible alone and our support group facilitators create a place for that important interaction by encouraging conversation and maintaining a positive and caring environment.

Our volunteers continuously learn and grow alongside the support group participants while serving a population in need of great support. "I couldn't care for mom alone," said Maria a caregiver "We Latinos are very close, but we also need resources. I want my community to know that there are government resources and community resources that are available to help us. The Alzheimer's Association helped connect us to some things we needed." Support Group Facilitators help us reach more individuals by sharing resources and providing a safe space to discuss the challenges associated with caregiving.

We currently have over 80 support groups for caregivers and want to expand our reach by training new volunteers from throughout Washington State. Help provide support and hope to those who work everyday to care for loved ones with Dementia by joining us as a volunteer.

Support Group Facilitators are asked to commit at least 10 months as a volunteer

2-4 hrs/wk. Duties include answering phones, checking messages, returning phone calls, data entry, outgoing mail, assisting in office work during Fund Drives and fundraisers.

Without our volunteer support staff there would be no KYRS on the air. Help us keep the station running strong by volunteering with our office staff. We are a non-commercial station run by community members, for community members, and we want to keep it that way!

Station & library volunteers commit to working for 2 to 3 hours a week in Spark Central's Creative Station - or they can fill in as a substitute for someone who can't make their regular shift. Their role focuses on making Spark Central a welcoming space accessible to everyone!

These volunteers welcome patrons, answer our Help Desk telephone, describe what Spark Central is to adults, offer free membership to new guests, and learn our library software so that they can check in and out books, technology, and creative kits. Station volunteers may assist staff in engaging youth and families in engaging creative activities; library volunteers may assist with maintaining technology or cataloguing new library items. Station & library volunteers may also assist in inventory, data entry, and cleaning.

Interested in getting involved with Spokane Edible Tree Project behind the scenes? Come join our Events Committee! We meet once a month to plan fun events that keep our nonprofit going strong. Currently, we need help organizing our annual Bringing in the Harvest Fundraiser, that takes place on September 22nd. Come help us as we secure donations, organize games, and publicize our event! We are meeting 2-4 times per month until our event. 

Want to fight hunger, reduce food waste, and promote fruit trees in the Spokane area? We are looking for a few more board members to help our organization run smoothly.

The board typically meets monthly for 1-1.5 hours near our downtown offices, and board members are expected to serve on one of our committees which also meet monthly.

Once interested candidates complete and return the volunteer application form, they will be invited to interview with members of the Council.  Aging & Long Term Care Governing Board approval is required before membership begins.

Interested candidates can also attend a PMC meeting to see the Council in action. 

"A Matter of Balance" (MOB) is an award winning program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls.  Class participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors and promote exercise to increase strength and balance.

The MOB program utilizes Volunteer Coaches to teach the eight two-hour sessions.  Classes are held in a variety of community-based settings and are led by two Volunteer Coaches. 

Volunteer Coaches receive eight hours of training by MOB Master Trainers.  Once trained, Volunteer Coaches are provided with the opportunity to observe MOB classes prior to teaching classes themselves. 

Volunteer Coaches should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, dependability, a willingness to lead a small group, an interest in working with older adults and an ability to perform range of motion and low-level endurance exercises.  Experience in education or health care is a plus. 

Do you enjoy helping other people?  By answering people's questions about Medicare, you could make a difference in someone's life.  Our volunteers are trained and mentored so they can answer a variety of questions.  They are not selling or recommending any insurance product, agent, or company.

Each year SHIBA is in contact with more than 4,000 people to answer their Medicare questions and give them guidance.  We need your help to meet the growing demand. 

There are many ways volunteers can help.  One way is by explaining what care is covered.  Another way is looking into and reporting possible fraud.  Or perhaps you enjoy reaching out into the community to let people know where they can turn for help.  Volunteers assist people by phone, in person and through public presentations.  You will learn a lot and make a difference in the lives of others!

Basic computer skills are helpful.  Client confidentiality, a willingness to provide unbiased information, and no association with an insurance company are all a must.  Activities include one-on-one meetings with people who have questions attending update meetings, and getting to know other volunteers. 

Have computer tech experience? Come help KYRS with periodic computer maintenance and troubleshooting. Several hours per month.

Meals on Wheels Spokane is in need of meal delivery drivers to deliver hot and or frozen meals to homebound seniors in the Spokane area. Our greatest need is for volunteers who wish to deliver in north Spokane. 

An average meal route is a 1-1.5 hour commitment. Hot meals are delivered between 11am-1pm, Monday through Friday. Background checks and valid vehicle insurance is required.

Our Volunteer Coordinator can help find a route and day(s) that work best for you. This is such a rewarding opportunity! Bring joy to a homebound seniors' day with a meal, a simple, "Hello, how are you today?", and a warm smile!

The time commitment as a programs volunteer can vary depending on the availability and commitment from the volunteer.

Throughout the year WHEN has a number of events we host as well as a number of opportunities to have booths at community events.  WHEN needs volunteers to staff booths, throughout the year and to help with things such a setup/take down, greeting, ticket taking, registration, etc at our own events.

Our volunteers collect, clean, sort, and distribute products.  We provide training so that our volunteers know what is expected of them. In general, our regular volunteers gather every Wednesday morning any time between 7:30 - 9:30 AM (no need to stay the entire time, even an hour goes a long way!)

Monday - Thursday between 9 AM - 2 PM

One of our programs is Recovery Community from 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday for our unhoused Recovery Community members. We serve 45 to 67 people per day.  We are a zero barrier substance use disorder outpatient treatment facility, providing safe space for clients to engage in Recovery throughout the day.  Our unhoused clients are identified as a high risk population for the COVID-19 virus with some of our clients being immune compromised. We are urgently seeking in-kind donations.

We now must limit the amount of clients in our building in order to maintain social distancing.  Due to this we will be increasing our street outreach in order to be supportive of our clients.

Our current needs list:

SAN provides a weekly food pantry for our immunocompromised clients, people living with HIV & AIDS.  On a weekly average, we server about 50 clients.  We established this program last year after a hiatus and have not been able to get connected with 2nd Harvest due to the current crisis.  We work with 2 local non-profits to source food items, but they are even having a hard time getting enough food for their own clients, let alone helping us.  

At this time, we really do not have a need for volunteers to work with our program, but we do need access to foods, especially those rich in protein like eggs, chicken breast, oats, milk, greek yogurt, beans, peanut butter, and fresh fruit and vegetables.  

SAN does have a large chest freezer and access to multiple refrigerators and enough storage to be able to store items.

Women & Children’s Free Restaurant & Community Kitchen serves women and children who need food assistance and community support. Since 1988, we have provided healthy chef-made meals, fresh groceries, and shelf-stable products to women, seniors, teens, and children.

Please consider joining our team as a kitchen assistant, dishwasher, or meal packager. There are no specific skills needed and you will receive excellent training as you work alongside our kitchen professionals. A Washington State Food Worker card is required.

As a member of our meal and grocery distribution team, you will help provide thousands of meals weekly to women and their families in our community. 1 in 8 U.S. Women will develop breast cancer - You can help!

Loucinda D. received a devastating breast cancer diagnosis when she was in her 30s. Chemotherapy treatments and their side effects were rough enough—then she needed platelets, which weren’t immediately available. 

“In order to receive chemo, your platelets have to be above 100,000 and mine were 9,000. I headed to the emergency room for a platelet transfusion, only to have to wait for platelets to be driven to the hospital from two hours away.” 

Blood donors ensure that the one in eight women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer, like Loucinda, don’t have to wait for relief. Platelets, the part of blood that makes it clot, are one of the three components (along with red blood cells and plasma) that each blood donation provides. 

“I could have died without platelets. Platelets are extremely important to cancer patients like me,” says Loucinda. She also received two red blood cell transfusions during her treatment, and has been cancer-free for four years. “Every year that goes by, is one more year to be thankful to be alive!”

Do you love aviation, WWII, vintage aircraft?  Then this volunteer opportunity is for you! Tour the aircraft museum with guests and families.  Learn their history and stories.  Shifts are Thursday through Sunday, 9 am to 1 pm and 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm.  Or 9am to 4:30 is available.

It is fun and exciting and you will learn so much about vintage aviation, unless you have the knowledge already.  That is a bonus!

All 14 planes in the collection are from the Golden Age of aviation - 1927-1957.  And they all fly!  There are fun airshows in the summer and holiday programs in the winter.  

HFF is also a STEM education center assisting students with aviation based studies.  We have a Members Library for all guests and students to use.

We are actively seeking drivers for our Volunteer Transportation Program. Oncology patients can sometimes struggle to make it to all of their appointments due to lack of transportation resources. Through a network of volunteers, the Transportation Program provides cancer patients in need of rides to and from their appointments. We need your help driving these patients from their homes to the hospital or clinics around Spokane and the surrounding areas!  You make your schedule.  We have ride requests Monday-Friday.  There is no time requirement.  Must be 21 years old, own a car and show proof of car insurance.  

Growing Neighbors is helping neighbors across Spokane to grow and share healthy food and relationships. Help us increase access to healthy food through:

The Spokane Municipal Community Court (SMCC) is seeking volunteers for a new case management program. The program is currently still in development and growing day-by-day. With your help, the case management program will allow clients to receive more individualized access to services provided through SMCC. While clients are guided by SMCC staff and service providers throughout their time at court, having case managers building connections with clients on a one-on-one basis will increase the likelihood of clients remaining on track to accomplish their goals. Through this program we hope to increase day-to-day communication with clients, offer consistent individualized guidance and encouragement, and grow our community partnership and outreach capacity. Each of the aforementioned factors (and more) contribute to clients’ experience with SMCC and we hope that you will consider joining us as the case management program grows and evolves!

Short Term Foster Role and Responsibilities

Our short-Term Foster parents are asked to take in lost pets for 1-3 days while we run a Social Media Campaign to reunite the pet with their people. While fostering you'll be asked to continue the Social Media Campaign, keep record of how the stay is going and facilitate Owner/Pet Reunion or transport to SCRAPS. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Next Door required. All volunteers will be trained prior to their first shift. 

We operate during the hours SCRAPS is closed, all volunteers must be available on their shift during the following hours: 

Monday-Wednesday, Friday: 7pm-10am

Thursdays and Holidays: 24hrs

Saturday-Sunday: 530pm-10am 

Transport Role and Responsibilities

Volunteers in the Transport position need to be organized, keeping communication with Dispatch, Finder/Owner, and Foster. Transport is responsible for sending a picture of the found pet to Dispatch as a check-in and deliver the pet to their Foster. Transport is to continue the Social Media Campaign, keep record of how the pick-up and transport went, and facilitate Owner/Pet Reunion or transport to SCRAPS. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Next Door required. Cursory knowledge of the Spokane area is very helpful as there may not always be a physical address where the animal was found. 

Must maintain a good driving record, valid drivers license, and current car insurance. All volunteers will be trained prior to their first shift. 

We operate during the hours SCRAPS is closed, all volunteers must be available on their shift during the following hours:

Monday-Wednesday, Friday: 7pm-10am

Thursdays and Holidays: 24hrs

Saturday-Sunday: 530pm-10am

We run a lot of programs at our RPG Community Center and other community locations throughout Spokane. We train volunteers as tabletop role-playing Game Masters to help us provide these programs to youth, adults, and seniors. We provide extensive free training.

The programs help participants improve social skills, cooperative problem solving, communication, and much more.

We train and provide games like Dungeons & Dragons, Doctor Who, The One Ring, Top Secret, No Thank You Evil, Star Trek, Star Wars, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Kids on Bikes, FATE, and many others

We currently need at our Spokane facilities at least 10 more Level 1 Game Master Trainees to go through our training programs and help us provide games in our community programs.

Training is one 4-hour session per week.

Community programs are typically one 4-hour session per week as well.

This is a long-term commitment because the training programs take quite a while to complete.

We need trainees that can attend training Saturdays from 8:00 am to Noon.

Once trained, we need trainees to help cover community programs on Fridays 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm or Saturdays 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Typically we don't ask you to work more than 4 hours in a day, and maximum 10 hours in a week (though usually only 4 hours per week if training, or helping with our programs, or 8 hours per week if attending training and helping with our programs in the same week).

The Spokane RPG Center needs a handful of people to be available each week to run our reception desk at the RPG Community Center in Spokane, Washington.

Hours will be weekly either Fridays 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm or Saturdays 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm (or both).

RPG Community Center Receptionist will generally be behind the reception desk at the entrance lobby for the center. You will make sure that community program participants check-in and check-out either on our clipboards or computer kiosk.

We would like to have a pool of at least 4 or 5 people willing to help us fill this role each week. While an easy position, it is important for our operations.

Will assist with unlocking/opening the doors to the lobby, and closing/locking them as public community hours begin and end.

Community Resource Navigator volunteers support IRC staff with a variety of administrative activities in our Spokane office. Volunteers may greet clients and visitors to the office and assist with check-in processes, answer and direct phone calls, forward emails to the appropriate staff member, assist with organizing files, data entry, donations recording, copying and filing, and other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

» Confirming the host location. Contact the host as soon as possible to learn about the audience needs, confirm location and discuss promotional opportunities. If the host requests additional promotional materials, please forward that request to your staff partner to coordinate delivery.

» Preparing all materials for the presentation. Community Educators are asked to carefully review the curricula and prepare for Q&A. Before delivering any new curricula or program for the first time, each Community Educator is required to deliver a mock presentation to your staff partner or mentor. The Association’s curricula often have supplemental brochures for audience members, which will be provided by your staff partner.

» Testing technology. The Association’s programs rely on technology such as PowerPoint or another learning platform. Community Educators need to practice with this technology to feel comfortable speaking while advancing the program. Familiarize yourself with the technology so you are comfortable and ready to interact with the audience.

Being a volunteer at the Spokane Dementia Community Café offers an opportunity to serve community members who experience some form of memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, or other dementia and a companion. You will be an integral part of creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere for people with memory loss and their care companions.  Café volunteers plan, implement, and assure a positive experience during cafe events/activities.

Musicians promote a healing environment for patients, staff and visitors.  Roles vary by campus.  Holy Family, musicians offer the gift of performing arts, such as singing or playing an instrument, to an audience or 1:1 with patients.  Auditions required.  

Assist our busy kitchen team with nutritional meal prep and delivery to patients. Must have an active Food Worker Card through the Washington State Department of Health

Provides a secure, caring environment where elderly and impaired adults receive rehabilitation services, nursing care, and the opportunity to socialize. Volunteers assist during mealtime and afternoon activities, provide dog visits, and bring their own gifts and talents to share too - from MUSIC and ART to VIRTUAL/PHONE VISITS and YOGA. Other ideas always welcome! Must have an active Food Worker Card through the Washington State Department of Health to assist during meals. Dogs and their handlers must be certified with Pet Partners. 

If you’re looking for a fun way to help shelter dogs and/or get your fitness steps in - look no further! Come volunteer at our shelter to walk dogs! Exercise and time socializing with people is so important for our canine critters that you’d be doing an amazing service for our dogs. Please note, some of our fur babies haven’t been taught leash etiquette and may be more of a workout than others. Our shelter staff and experienced volunteers will show you the ropes and help you select the dogs right for your comfort level. Your time with the dog outside of the shelter helps us learn more about them so we can help find the best adoption match.

We’re excited to be out and about in our community! BUT, we need more help! If you’re interested in volunteering your time to help staff our booths at community events, help with pets at special adoption events, or help at fundraisers - WE NEED YOU! Please note, RELIABILITY IS A MUST. When you agree to help, we’ll be depending on you to show up and stay for the duration of the event! We have great brochures and resources to help you answer questions and represent SpokAnimal and our pets too! Once you register as a volunteer, we’ll notify you when event help is needed. If it works with your schedule and sounds fun to you, just let us know you’re committed to helping. We’ll send you a reminder that we need your shortly before the event too.

Do you love animals and are addicted to social media?  Why not combine these loves?  Come down and make the goofiest video of some of our pups or take the most amazing photos of our adorable kitties and make them go viral.  Help us reach people that we couldn’t otherwise and make a difference in the lives of homeless animals!

We depend on the kindness, love and homes of our foster parents to help us save hundreds of lives every year.  Members of our foster care program open up their homes for shelter animals.  They care for kittens or puppies until they are old enough for adoption, animals with illnesses and injuries until they are healed, and animals who need socialization or those who are not thriving in the shelter environment.  The time commitment varies upon the needs of the foster pet, but generally is between 2 weeks and 3 months. 

Fostering is a flexible, fun and rewarding volunteer experience, and requires a special person- able to invest themselves into the lives of foster pets, and let them go knowing they’ve helped save a life.  We provide all supplies foster parents need, from food and bedding to medication. While it is best to have some knowledge about animal behavior and health, we always try to match foster parents with animals whose needs are within your ability level, and we provide ongoing help and support throughout your foster experience. 

If you have your own animals, you’ll want to consider how they will adjust to having a foster pet. Some animals do very well with a temporary friend and can help socialize the foster animal. Other pets have a harder time with new animals being added to or leaving the family. You’re the best judge of your pet’s personality.  For the safety of your pets and the foster animal, it’s important to keep your pets up-to-date on vaccinations. In many cases, the foster pet will need to be isolated from your own pets, either temporarily or throughout the foster period.
