As a board member you hold a vital position in our organization.
Project id is a nonprofit organization established to provide recreation, socialization, work, personal development, and transitional opportunities to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Spokane County. Based on a unique combination of faith, business, mental health, and sports principles, our goal is to build a vibrant and thriving community of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We aim to provide education, life enhancing experiences, and treatment support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a safe and nurturing environment.
As a board member you will help:
- To determine the mission, values and policies of Project id, and periodically evaluate of Project id’s success in fulfilling its mission, living up to its values, and complying with its policies;
- To understand Project id’s history and programs;
- To elect members of the Board, elect Board Officers, periodically evaluate the performance of Board Members and Board Officers, and perform all corporate acts on behalf of Project id.
- To participate in ensuring staff accountability for implementing that mission and plan.
- To help the Project id connect to the community of recipients and potential recipients of its services and programs.
- To take advantage of opportunities to inform myself about Project id’s -operated services and programs.
- To fulfill the functions of office set forth in Project id’s bylaws and described in this volunteer job description.
- As a part of my fiduciary responsibility, to review and approve all budgets, review all financial statements, audits, and other financial reports, and actively inform myself about Project id’s financial health.
- To create, review and approve strategic plans, major programs and major facilities issues.
- To interact with other Board members, staff and stakeholders in a respectful and courteous manner.
- To actively participate in and support Project id’s fund raising, including personal solicitation, major gift campaigns, special events, and planned giving.
- To represent Project id, when asked, to elected officials, funders and others with resources and influence or who need to be influenced to accomplish agency goals.
- To select the Executive Director and periodically evaluate his/her performance.
- I understand that so long as I carry out my duties and responsibilities in good faith and to the best of my ability, I will generally be free from any liability for the debts and actions of the organization as provided in Spokane, Spokane County, and Washington State.
