We have an alternative distribution sight at North Hill Christian Church where we meet volunteers and give them delivery routes to serve our senior clients.
The tasks that you may be asked to perform:
- Load and organize the van with the routes that are being picked up from North Hill Christian Church
- Facilitate the distribution of the daily hot and weekly cold routes
- Size of routes vary based on the day of the week
- Help load meals to be delivered into volunteers vehicles
- Put out the postal lock box for volunteers to return their route folders
- Caution: this box weighs approx. 25 lbs. Please make sure you use a team lift whenever possible.
To be eligible to help with this volunteer position you must:
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Pass a volunteer background check
- Meals on Wheels Spokane will run your DMV report
- Feel comfortable driving a 16-foot delivery van
- Be able to lift 10 pounds repeatedly
- Be ok moving in and out of a walk-in freezer
This opportunity is available to anyone who meets the criteria above.
Volunteer Time Frame: 1-2 hours (morning hours)
