Description

When: Saturday, May 23rd 10AM-2PM

Where: Morin Trailhead, Riverside State Park

Getting There: From West Trails Road/Government Way, turn North onto N Riverside State Park Drive and follow the road to its end where you will reach Morin Trailhead. We will meet in this lot for our safety briefing and then divide and conquer!

Overview: Riverside State Park consists of 9,194 acres along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers. Recreational opportunities include mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, boating and more!

Project Description: From Morin Trailhead, we will head North on the Centennial Trail to our main project area (about 1/4 mile from the trailhead). Myrtle Spurge is a noxious weed that prevents native vegetation from growing in areas where it creates a monoculture. Its inner sap can be toxic if ingested and can irritate the skin so full protective gear must be worn while handling the plant. We will be pulling Myrtle Spurge and bagging the plant for disposal.

Hiking Information: 1/4 mile on flat, paved trail to the project site. Once at the site, we will be hiking off trail to pull the invasive plant.
