Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 to 6:00pm and Thursday mornings from 9:30am to 12:30 pm involve distribution and working with the public.
This volunteer role may include the following tasks:
Front Desk: Assist with counting and bagging items upon checkout
Sorting: Separate out anything that has any of the following traits : stains, broken zippers, several missing buttons, rips, broken hoods or pockets Make sure everything left is something in good enough condition that you would gladly gift it to a friend or family member. If it is out of season, put it in the labeled bin that correlates to that item.
Hanging: Take clothing rack from the sorting room and hang items according to posted signage. Receive donations as they come in during service hours. Perform any other extra tasks the clothing bank manager needs.
You may be placed in other departments help out as needed. Hours can be flexible, please ask.
Please try to arrive about 15 minutes early for your first shift to fill out a volunteer application and waiver along with getting a brief orientation.
Try to park away from the building during service times Wednesdays 3-6pm and Thursdays 10am to 12:30 to make it easier for clients to load their food, clothing or laundry.
*To enter, use the double green doors at the food bank if no one hears you knock loudly at the front door. If you anticipate having difficulty meeting this obligation in any way, please let me know as soon as possible either by email, phone or text at 509-879-6309, please include your name and the shift you signed up for so I can find a replacement for the schedule.
