There are several overstocked stands of Ponderosa Pine trees in the area that could use some thinning. By removing the weaker trees and leaving the appropriate amount of space for the healthier trees, we can improve the health of the stand as well as reduce wildfire severity risks. We will start out by using handsaws and loppers to remove smaller trees. For the second half of the event, we can fire up the woodchipper and broadcast the mulch within the newly thinned stand of trees. Hiking Information: ½ mile on flat, paved trail. After our safety briefing at the trailhead, we will hike down the Centennial Trail to the CCC camp. Planning Information: No experience is necessary; we will provide the training and tools you need. Our volunteers often refer to their service with us as life changing. We are a small team of individuals from diverse backgrounds who embrace our mission of health, justice, and hope. The Sexual Assault and Family Trauma Center, a program of Lutheran Community Services Northwest, hosts Spokane's only Certified and Accredited Community Sexual Assault Program (CSAP). Our program provides the following services confidentially and free of charge: Information and referral Legal advocacy Medical advocacy Crisis intervention & support Education & prevention Support groupsOur volunteer advocates assist survivors via a 24-hour support line that can be directed to volunteers at home (no need to sit in a call center) and medical advocacy, which is provided to victims in person at area hospitals when requested. As a non-profit, we rely on our volunteers to provide services to survivors outside of business hours. We provide a comprehensive 40-hour training and certification free of charge, as well as ongoing supervision and 24-hour support for all our volunteers. As a non-profit, we rely on our volunteers to provide services to survivors outside of business hours. We provide a comprehensive 40-hour training and certification free of charge, as well as ongoing supervision and 24-hour support for all our volunteers. We invest in our volunteer staff and in turn, we ask for a one-year commitment of service and four evening or weekend shifts per month. Applicants are thoroughly screened and vetted for service. Volunteer: Supplies for Homeless Recovery ProgramHello, One of our programs is Recovery Community from 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday for our unhoused Recovery Community members. We serve 45 to 67 people per day. We are a zero barrier substance use disorder outpatient treatment facility, providing safe space for clients to engage in Recovery throughout the day. Our unhoused clients are identified as a high risk population for the COVID-19 virus with some of our clients being immune compromised. We are urgently seeking in-kind donations. With your help, the case management program will allow clients to receive more individualized access to services provided through SMCC. While clients are guided by SMCC staff and service providers throughout their time at court, having case managers building connections with clients on a one-on-one basis will increase the likelihood of clients remaining on track to accomplish their goals. Through this program we hope to increase day-to-day communication with clients, offer consistent individualized guidance and encouragement, and grow our community partnership and outreach capacity. Each of the aforementioned factors (and more) contribute to clients’ experience with SMCC and we hope that you will consider joining us as the case management program grows and evolves! We are currently looking to fill the following roles: Courtroom Navigator: Guide participants as they enter the courtroom and direct them to intake, SMCC Staff, Services etc. as necessary. Case Navigator: Connect with participants at court and help them navigate services and resources at court/throughout the week as needed. Digital Coordinator: Help ensure court files/website are up to date, work with Community Engagement Liaison on community outreach, take Minutes for weekly Staffing meeting, communicate with SMCC Staff/Volunteer team as needed. Community Engagement Liaison: Work with the SMCC Coordinator to maintain connections with partnering organizations in the community, manage outreach and public facing communications (i.e. fliers, social media, etc.). Communicate updates and changes to partnerships with the SMCC Staff/Volunteer Team as needed. Recruitment Liaison: Help maintain and recruit new volunteers for the case management program.*We are hoping that volunteers will be able to begin serving by mid-June to early July pending COVID-19 safety regulations/guidelines. Volunteer: STAHR- Short Term FosterShort Term Foster Role and Responsibilities Our short-Term Foster parents are asked to take in lost pets for 1-3 days while we run a Social Media Campaign to reunite the pet with their people. While fostering you'll be asked to continue the Social Media Campaign, keep record of how the stay is going and facilitate Owner/Pet Reunion or transport to SCRAPS. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Next Door required. All volunteers will be trained prior to their first shift.
