Become a Home Fire
Preparedness Volunteer
Seven times a day, someone in this country dies in a home fire. The American Red Cross has launched a nationwide campaign to reduce this number and our volunteers can help save lives and prevent injuries.
There are many ways you can be involved:
- Go door-to door and speak with residents about the importance of smoke alarms and promote the free smoke alarm installation service.
- Help residents develop a fire escape plan and complete a fire-safety checklist.
- Install smoke alarms, replace batteries and teach residents how to test and maintain their smoke alarms.
On January 11th, we need 10 volunteers to pre-canvass targeted neighborhoods by hanging door hangers to let people know we will be back in their neighborhood on January 16th for actual installations.
Youth age 16+ are able to participate with parental consent and adult supervision!
