Who We Are
Since 2013, Spokane Edible Tree Project (SETP) has connected fruit tree owners, volunteers, food banks and community organizations with the goal of fighting hunger and food waste in the Spokane area.
SETP empowers our neighbors to share in the harvest and care of existing fruit & nut trees by implementing food recovery methods and cultivating a connection with the greater needs in the community.
We envision a thriving urban area where all people have access to healthy foods via locally acquired resources and are competent in the care and maintenance of fruit and nut trees.
.
What We Do
In the past 4 years, Spokane Edible Tree Project has harvested over 120,000 pounds of produce in Spokane County that may have otherwise gone to waste.
We bring together volunteers to harvest unused produce from residential homes and local growers.
We make use of existing community resources by educating the public on edible tree care, building community capacities, and implementing product recovery methods.
Want to get involved?
Participate in a Harvest (glean)
Harvest parties bring people together to pick fruit that might otherwise go to waste and make it available to people in need. These events are a fun and easy way to get involved with the SETP. Our harvest season begins in late June and ends in early November. We hold a glean almost every week on Saturday mornings!
